Stop making A level students write code on paper for the exam and instead let us take the exam on a computer

This is a No. This is almost the same as teaching a mathematical concept, would you teach them how to solve a math problem using a calculator right away or using pen and paper?

@tapatapatio Maths and Programming are different. Programming is one of the ways Maths is implemented in real world. Programming is more like practicing medicine. You practice it and get better. There is no use learning and doing it on paper, if you are not practicing.

Why?

Exam are made to prove that you're a profesional, writting code on paper is exhausting and you cannot test it, how to waste time..

Ps: personnaly, i cannot handwrite so i made all my exams on computer, i do not feel any advantage but the earned time

@Jakuho I wrote code on paper and white boards many times. Even in interviews recently. There's nothing wrong with that. If you're good you're good in any medium.

You shouldn't need a compiler to see if your code is correct.

@codesquirrel some of my colleagues do that as well, and i can understand it help to think, but you're not going to write an entire feature on the whiteboard as asked in exams

@tapatapatio we have been taught how to write code since Olevels which is 9th grade and now I'm in 12th to be honestly writing code on paper takes too much time and is also a pain when you write one line wrong and have to cut it and use a "*" and write that line somewhere else most of the time at the bottom of the program this not only makes understanding the code difficult for the teacher but also for the student especially when you have to rewrite many lines, we also have limited space as we have to take our exams on work sheets and getting extra papers ruins my concentration .It will be a lot easier for both teachers and students if they let us take exams on the computer as the checking process will be a lot faster and bugs can also be detected easier,Unfortunately Cambridge doesn't take the same approach to computer science it dose to other science subjects such as physics and biology as they have lab exams allowing students to analyze the results whereas CMS students can't
