My normal lunch break is usually watching random YouTube channels or reading random wiki pages, so today as I was reading random wiki pages I came across Japanese voice actor Natsuki Hanae wiki page and there was section that told he also does "Let's play" videos on YouTube, so I decided to check it out. Well, it wasn't exactly what I expected but was so funny as hell I couldn't stop laughing when he and two other VA was playing UNO.

And this is why I use Firefox all the time, 3 fucking ads in row with chrome. And try not to click fucking ad when scrolling.
PS. I decided to try googles "interesting news", was it Google(app?), Well was last time.5 -
Just finished watching Sense8, perhaps one of the best cast and story a long time I have seen in American TV series. Gave lot of some feeling as Altered Carbon, sense of mystery and excitement.
But now the problem, what to watch next?4 -
Fuck yeah, first vacation in 11 months! And we will also have some lay-off too so I get some extra vacations.
Many in my company is worried about lay-off but I'm actually happy, will have more vacation than expected so I'm good with it, actually fucking happy 👌
Now just need to think something to do 🤔2 -
Mac: emacs
Linux: emacs
Windows: wsl + emacs
Emacs is godsend for me, it does almost everything I need, except Skype / teams meetings. Originally started using cause I needed good note taking and org-mode pop up everywhere and after while decided to change completely no emacs cause didn't see much point to use multiple different editors.1 -
Start simple, preferably some game, pong is good example. As language I would recommend to start with JavaScript. 5 years ago I would have recommended Java but JavaScript is nowadays better for beginners.
After you have made pong, overengineer it, put new mechanics into it.
So why games? You can make them as simple or complicated complicated you want. As developing them try to use as little external libraries as possible. With JavaScript you can make everything, even required libraries simply by yourself, web clients handle hardest stuff. But you learn basics of many things (graphics, audio, logic, AI, input) while making pong.
And because we're talking about kids here I think games are good because they can easily see what they have done, that helps them to keep motivated to tinker. -
Took motorbike outside of garage cause weather started to seem so good (yesterday), well now it's snowing...

Today came order to work remotely, don't change that much because normally I work few days in office and rest remotely.

Working with legacy code base, with internal language what most recent documentation is from 1998. Development language don't support integer, only float and only way to develop is in production server.
F*ck, that's my job...2 -
- Get new job, current one don't cut it for me. Preferably from Japan.
- "Release" my rust side project.
- Start develop more with C++.
- And make more side projects5 -
App 1 and 2 is basically same thing and 3 one is app just for commuter trains, what don't provide anything extra for commuting that 1 and 2 don't provide. App 1 is really old and UI and UX feels from stone age. 2 is quite fresh looking and feels good. 3, well never used it.
But here is a thing, I use train to commute, but not commuter train (one that stops on every train station) so I use 2 now. But I can't purchase season tickets (1 month tickets) from any of those apps so I need to buy it from website. And website sends me a PDF file what has QR code ticket I need, yes I was logged in my account when I purchased ticket but still can't see on any app my ticket even though they have "my tickets" section.
So there is 3 apps what are totally useless for quite simple thing.11 -
Aah documentation... My workplace documentation is mess, some parts are from year 200x and they don't work at all sometimes. It's really frustrating to learn our internal development language cause you can't trust documentation that much, or at all sometimes. Perhaps I start developing by updating documentation.7

First day at new job, couldn't really do anything (my PC hasn't arrived yet) 😅 but really nice feeling about this. Really good atmosphere at office1

What is longest commute distance you would do? Got now new work but it's about 100km away and thinking should I move closer to workplace or just commute from current apartment.15

Decided to make code editor, with language I don't know well with no idea how basic Text Buffer is made. This gonna be long journey but hopefully I have something done. If someone could point me a guide or blog posts about simple text buffers, I would be happy, thank you!

Started using dvorak (programmer version) yesterday, so have a question for people who uses it, how long it took for you to get somewhat used to it?5

Planning to buy smaller laptop myself, prefer lightweight and small ones. First was looking for MacBook air but then heard about project crostini for Chromebooks. So for me that crostini seems good but I don't have any idea what Chromebook would be okeyish for development, so if anyone got any experience with crostini I would happy to take recommendations for Chromebook7

Anyone got Thinkpad t540p with linux (this one got i7, 16Gb ram, 3k monitor, nvidia + intel graphics)?
Any special problems?
Tried to find internet but seems to be normal Thinkpad problems but those are easy to fix. Planning to buy t540p for home cause previous Thinkpad broke.3 -
Seems to be I have dropped too many times my dear OP3.
I drop it daily and never learn not to put it on dangerous places and now finally it's giving up, well only camera, focus no longer works at all. Oh well I don't need that feature that much but I'm surprised that nothing else isn't broken yet.2 -
Ok, HOW I can remove Microsoft Edge from windows?
And how I can change completely language to another? Just changed from my native -> English. And now half of apps are in my native and half is in English?
And lastly is this true? Microsoft spams some f*cking Candy ____ saga games on menu selection all the time??21 -
Ah come on Microsoft... My brother gave me old tablet (windows tablet) so I could use it as Synthesia tablet for my piano. It worked fine and so, but we decided to do factory reset for it. There might have been something his work related stuff. Well we put it to do factory reset and we decided to make food and eat while it's doing it. Well 10min later error message popped up, "Reset error" nothing else, there was "Cancel" button but it didn't respond at all. Well had to do hard reset for it to get it moving forward. Well now it won't even start anymore... ffs.. Have to go buy otg cable now...

Ok, now there is quite big movement from GitHub to GitLab (https://bit.ly/2xJWGDs). It's actually so big (over 250k https://twitter.com/gitlabstatus/...) that GitLab didn't expect and there is currently some problems with "Import tool". I think at least 95% of those projects are open source, and 2-3 weeks until bigger projects / closed source projects starts to move (if they move). I don't dare to say "open source is dead in GitHub" but if there is any believing in numbers there is some heavy decline now, and more decline in upcoming weeks when bigger projects move.
Basically GitHub has now lost quite many people who contributes to open source even if projects don't move (true, some people will continue use Github along GitLab and continues contribute GitHub open source projects) and their development rate will slow down, what can current "market" mean slow "death", or they need to find new active members to contribute code.
I'm more worried about open source than GitHub, and effect to open source can't be seen in right away (maybe year or two forward). MS has now quite lot power to decide what direction open source will move. Many of those who has moved / will move away from GitHub, and I believe some who moved away had subscription to GitHub, so there will be some decline in income too.
Now to biggest thing to see how MS reacts to it, do they get enough money from other sources they link to GitHub (Visual Studio, Azure and so on), or will decline be so big that they need to start monetize GitHub even more what then most likely increase decline open source in GitHub.
I personally originally joined GitHub just because there was some projects what I was interested (most of them are now dead long before), and I used to till yesterday have active subscription to GitHub. I don't hate or love GitHub or anything, it's service to me and I don't feel like "I have to be loyal". But on personal level I hate MS, and that's why I move away.
