Worthless tool - who watches the watchers? There are just as many fake-fake-debunkings around as fake news.
-
There's some of that already. They usually contextual:
https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/
Snopes.com
Etc -
irene33914yEasy to make. Just assemble a whitelist from the most visited websites and check if it matches the submitted URL using regex. If not show a “suspicious source” message. You could make it a static page and use JavaScript to go through the list. The hosting costs would be incredibly low.

irene33914y@M1sf3t I was more thinking of hand picking the ones that have journalistic ethics from the list. Not just whitelisting pornhub as a source of truth.

irene33914y@M1sf3t You are taking what I said more seriously than I said it. I’m not from USA so I’m not going to defend the media there.
The rest of the world has known that USA has had press issues for at least 19 years. From my vantage point it still seems that the large media outlets are more interested in journalistic integrity and reputation than the small ones in the USA. It seems like a single interest blog can brand itself with an American flag and four random letters and Americans treat it like a real news outlet. The relationship makes no sense to me as an outsider.
If it were me I would be looking at coverage of USA from foreign media more than domestic media. -
irene33914y@M1sf3t I think that you are wrong about the left slanting primarily because centrist media appears to have a slant if you are further left or right. I know some lefties that think Al Jazeera is right slanted and some righties that think it is left leaning. Media bias does exist in all media but centrist media bias is generally easier to ignore because it isn't as polarized. I assume that you are more right leaning from your comment.
I have had some good conversations with Americans that get exposed to Canadian news while living/working here. It seems like there generally isn't enough knee-jerk to hold an American's attention.
Bad news is good for the ratings in the USA. News is boring in Canada and some Canadians get addicted to American news drama. Often Canadians actually forget that they don't live in the USA which is why Canadians join American protests. (Many Canadians are also victims of the media circus.) -
irene33914y@M1sf3t Yeah I'll take a hard pass on the liberal/conservative/democrat/republican ideas etc. I don't have to pick sides because I just vote for the party that I agree with most. That is the case federally, provincially, and municipally.
I'm not a small government person. I have worked in government and have seen cuts destroy necessary development and needed projects. I have also seen useless people. Same thing in corporations so I would rather the public own whatever comes out at the end of the day. Public owned means that the public can file freedom of information requests. There are lots of important things that should be done that aren't immediately profitable either.
I don't like seeing mooches but I think that can often be fixed with policy. -
@M1sf3t @irene
I want to post some of the gubernatorial candidates here just to make you guys feel better about yourself and the state of where you are 😊 -
@irene
No no, "state of," not "state you". some of our people will make you happy you are nowhere near here. Or the guy who wants to colonize space by eliminating minimum wage. -
@M1sf3t
Has yours vowed to stop chemtrails and fund investigations into 5g, while also declaring they want to start a grassroots space program?
Need some real crazy for this beef 🐄 -
@M1sf3t
I mean, as a Jewish person, I'm highly critical of Israel's actions and policies, as well as the amount of money the American taxpayers continues to fork over to them year after year. The sponsor of this bill is the type of person that terrifies me. -
@SortOfTested The reason is that Israel cannot survive on its own, same situation as the Christian outposts during the medieval crusades. On the other hand, it's the only reliable pro-Western outpost in an area full of oil. The Iran could have been an even better ally, but the US were too greedy in 1953 and fucked that up.
So we have a solid co-dependency. -
irene33914yI hate bring this up because admittedly I was a contributor to rule breaking. Politics is off limits on DevRant.

@M1sf3t
That and the largest, most politically active protestant denomination views us as mystical creatures that need to be in the jerusalem barbie playhouse to facilitate the return of the king. fml. -
irene33914y@M1sf3t Hm. I suppose. I regret talking about American politics. I like Devrant because I don’t see this stuff like other platforms.
