They’re probably overestimating the installation time so that users don’t feel that they’ve waited longer than they needed, or it’s an attempt to make the user feel like it was an important installation that took some time. I know certain games and applications do that. Either way, if it’s not a genuine estimation and is an overestimation, the user feels okay or good. Unlike a certain OS that tries to convince you that it’s fast and smart when it’s not...

I usually leave my MacBook for a while when it’s updating, like read a book or article or something, so that I never actually remember if there was a blank message in between.

@SHA-16384 It’s meant to be a white lie so that it helps with UX. A lot of software do this. Over-exaggerating it just defeats that purpose, and is just blatantly lying.
