Demolishun35057304dI think static ram and a battery then it could maintain state for a long long time. This is how cmos settings are maintained. I think some Apple II cards did this.

There's save files from NES still going strong out there. Likely 30-35 years old -
Grumm1823304dRAM loses the data approximately 5 minutes after it loses power.
So old NES games can keep their saves if you manage to swap the battery in less that a few minutes :p
