zshh38487yIn what way does it help your programming? I’m a musician myself and I’d like to use my musical knowledge in my work but I don’t see how to do it.
-
khalildh797y@zshh Music is just abstraction. The types of people that like modeling logical abstractions can also apply that skill to building models for musical abstractions and vice versa. As long as the music is internally consistent and not subjective or contradictory.

@zshh it's like breaking a puzzle apart in my mind. Certain things can only go certain places, but there are some exceptions which, if done properly, make everything better.
A resonant chord, for example, can fit if resolved properly. Using a different loop or statement might make the code better or faster. -
rfc716828017y@QueenMorgana That's beautifully put. :)
I also learned music theory and had some ear training but I never correlated it with coding other than being interested in structures.
Do you play an instrument? -
@nin0x03 trumpet and piano. Mostly piano until I have the money for a good horn again. Mom has a piano she's had for ages that I use
-
rfc716828017y@QueenMorgana Woah cool, trumpet! :) I had always respect for brass players because of the embouchure they require.
-
@nin0x03 it's one of the easier ones to play one handed. That's all I had been thinking about 😂

Music, and trying to learn music theory. I was never very good at it, still am not, but the harder I try at this, the easier programming becomes...
