So this place seems to be relatively inactive, especially compared to how it was back in 2016, 2017. What happened?

Tbh, I'm on this site enjoying myself the whole day. It's active enough.

    But don't know what happened

I am going to go with "population reduction was more successful than initially thought".

@-red and you're here. A kinda alibabba / Walmart quality summary bot.

I have a great time. I have the bestest time. Devrant, yeaaahh

"devs not giving a shit about bad quality and mods not giving a shit about bad people" happened.
  • 1
community kept changing and alienating oldies with each shift, devs lost interest, app went stale then deprecated then hidden from play store. Now you can only access it from the web UI and third party apps.

I don‘t know, the ad spammers are more active than ever!

It's because they didn't turn it into a creepy advertising nozzle like you're supposed to.
  • 1
Sad. Well, hats off to all of you non-bots (sorry, is that racist) for continuing to enjoy the platform. I have to think that they're going to stop hosting it at some point though.

@Lensflare if only we still had the pedophile lawyer game dev to really mix things up again.
  • 4
@Demolishun that is an arrangement of words that I never expected to see. Good story?
  • 3
@nosoup4u yh, we really had an lawyer pedophile game dev
  • 2
@retoor a game dev moonlighting as a lawyer who was a pedo, or a game dev preying on precocious, law practicing children?
  • 5
@nosoup4u some dude dude who claimed he was a lawyer kept trying to solicit help to port a C++ library to a C game engine. He would insult everyone here and call everyone transfags and the like. He also talked about liking "young" girls and it was okay because of his religion (not sure if Jewish or something else). He got banned twice.
  • 3
@Demolishun less of a funny story than I'd hoped, but thanks for the explanation. Hope I never cross paths with that individual.
  • 2
@nosoup4u I am unsure of his claims on who he was.
  • 1
@Demolishun he was in no way a lawyer
  • 2
That "wolfenstine" guy was really the most disturbing one. Not only because of his beliefs but also because of his behavior.

We also had AvatarOfKaine which was a sad case of insanity.

    And ostream is back again.
  • 1
@Lensflare was the game he was working on Wolfenstein?
  • 2
@Demolishun yes, but he always misspelled it, which was hilarious
  • 2
@Demolishun I think it was a real psychotic man. His energy were unlimited. Did not doubted his skills. Btw, that bot network was impressive

did my bad memories fade or did we have basically no deranged spammers before AoK and ostream? (not sure which came first but both came long after covid).
  • 1
actually, ostream is around a lot and he's only spamming intermittently so I don't think he'd qualify. What bugs me is when people primarily engage with the platform by flooding the feed.

@lorentz I am unsure of this. I think we may be helping to produce some of them?
