I want to get into game dev, but don't know which engine to choose, Unreal or Unity. Both would be free, because Unreal is free for students. I already know C++, but I think it depends more on the API than the language itself. Maybe I would like to create games for Android too.
Which one would you recommend? Any experience?

    PS: Of course I know that I can't create GTA whatever the newest version is in two weeks, just to clarify I'm not that kind of idiot. I just want to try it out, I enjoy 3d modelling as well as coding so why not combining both

    Why not both? Try them out, build a small game with both the engines and find out yourself which engine you like more!

    @Devvy Good idea!

    Yeah and they probably doesn't have the same design and goals. Try to learn and understand how they work. Btw Unreal and Unity aren't the only free game engines.

    @Celes yes, but I think others are often too special, for example they are only supporting 2d or something.
    I've also tried Blender game engine but it's not really what I'm looking for

    Well I can't say, I'm just going to work with Cry Engine and I heard about another engine based on it. Well anyway, two is far enough work already xD
