I can see life is meaningless and the only reason of my short visit to this planet is to pass on my vain selfish genes.

But what drives me every day is the exponential trends of tech and the looming technological singularity in the 2040s. And the prospect of staying alive for billions of years mapping exoplanets, contributing in every way I can.

Until we reach a Type 10 civilization and beyond, I'm not sure when I might want to hang up my coat.

Still if I can't make it to the singularity, that's cool also, after all life is meaningless.

@Nanos haha, money's not gonna exist in a post scarcity society. We would need to worry about the people who refuse to adopt tech. We might modify humans to make knowledge the main pursuit instead of raising a family.

But I'm pretty sure that'll be met with a lot of resistance, crying blasphemy and all that stuff.

@Nanos so once we have nano replicators, you can basically create anything you want. If you insist on a coast side property, VR will be so immersive that you won't be able to differentiate it from the real world.

If you really insist on the real deal, a lot of property owners wouldn't bother giving it to you, it wouldn't hold any great value to them relatively. Still there is so much unoccupied coastal land all around the world, especially if you ever drove on coastal Highways, you'd be able to see how much land is empty.

Humans tend to crowd together tightly in small areas (cities) since that's where all the action is.

Once we are completely interconnected we won't need to commute anywhere. We can carry out everything from a single place in the globe

Yes you're right on a lot of the points. Energy won't be a issue when we start on a Dyson Sphere.

We would definitely have a cap on raw materials for each individual, we don't want people to start building mansions the size of sky scrapers for their selfish needs.

With your limited resource allocation, you should be able to convert any coastal land suitable for you. Still the VR is a better option, since you'd even be able to even customize the creatures you want in your ocean, from sea dragons to mermaids. And not to mention we'll soon be able to fool all senses, neuro signals coming into the brain instead of just presenting an illusion like present day VR

Better yet we can modify human attributes and remove traits like greed and negative emotions once we completely reverse engineer the brain.

@Nanos We are already halfway into solving the problem of crowding together, a majority of IT jobs are remote today. This trend will saturate when there are only information jobs left after automation like there are no one on the farms these days

The ones who's only worry is about their filters and emojis will lead the crowd.

Animal like humans crawl the earth preserving the biological human body.

While the rest transfer their consciousness into biological bodies and set our mapping exoplanets and xenobiology as first explorers.

We would also maintain a World Heritage and keep an eye on the humans in the VR world so that things don't get out of hand

The humans would be too busy immersed in their VR worlds even if the apes took over lol

The rise of Homo Sapiens was either because we were the superior species and being obsessed with race we eliminated the rest like black discrimination.

We might be faced with a question of killing them or trying to cooperate with them, by shifting them to another planet like Mars or any other exoplanet

Yes we do need to work towards it, but we do have a lot of company, even if it's less relatively.

One major drawback is we won't have enough time in a lifetime to master everything to build our way to Transhumanism.

So we might want to focus on constructing a BCI first, that's the holy grail to rapid progress. Neuralink and other companies are estimating a working prototype in eight years

These are just hiccups along the way, on the long term looking at issues like these aren't significant.

We either get to the singularity or we nuke ourselves or in any other similar way. Right now existential crises though possible are somewhat under control

@Nanos Hmm, we do have governments that take care of this, micromanaging to this level is neither feasible nor possible, if you ask me.

There might be people already who have made it their life missions to solve problems like these, a particular one at that.

For example, there's an entire body dedicated to climate change, continously brainstorming ways to filter out the carbon cycle.

So unless, something is really serious we can all focus on what we want to work on to help our progress once we have a UBI society

@Nanos we're gonna have to wait till we are post scarcity, but estimates suggest that we already have enough world resources for some reasonable distribution among the poorest.

But we still have a long way to go to implement UBI universally.
