    Not my set, but a friend of mine is a ThinkPad connoisseur. He tried lining up the command line windows across the systems, and amusement ensued.

    Distro?

    Man, I really want a Thinkpad for my next laptop..

    I don't fancy Thinkpad since Lenovo took it over, for me it's best days are behind. The manufacturer showing most promise in my book is Dell, at least they have a series of laptops that are Linux first.

    Perhaps I'm just getting grumpy :/

    I just run Linux Mint on this one. Wife is using it alot and Mint is a good choice. Also it has great drivers that you can install without any problems

    @Sioeray

    We are using ThinkPads at work, the support and on-site warranty is awesome. Dell - not at all.

    @Linux strange how our experience can differ so much as I'm too from Sweden (If my mind serves me, you worked in Sweden). But i understand if you experience with Lenovo is better why you would choose them instead.

    Ah, this situation is driving me crazy: either you use old CPUs with all drawbacks of its performances or you use hardware that snoops on you!
    I have heard that AMD also uses some kind of snooping firmware, so the only hope is for the RISC-V.

    @Akyshnik
    Yeah, I agree to this. Maybee ARM or POWER8 has something cool
