This year I want to start a project that I'll be proud of, learn PHP, Java, PostgreSQL and Assembly.

I wouldn't really learn any of those languages, they're hardly increasing in popularity anymore if you want to get a job with the experience!

@Wozza365 What would you recommend that I learn then?

Don't learn Java, but that's just my opinion. Assembly is rarely needed, but practical sometimes.
Definently go for PHP and Postgres

@PrivateGER Thanks m8 but would you recommend I learn Rust and Kotlin or not?

Seriously mate PHP? its an abomination don't do it. Kotlin is pretty cool but if you're looking to get into back end development there are so many awesome stuff out there, node, GO, Django etc.

Many of my friends were terrified on Assembly.

    Go for python i guess

@Clueless I am already fluent in Python

@diavel Why? is it that bad?

@HRT-713 good. How about some OOP?

@Clueless I have finished that now I am making my raspberry pi zero to make a robot using python and C

@HRT-713 yeah man, its bad. I won't suggest PHP.

@HRT-713 well there's a number of better and more future proof languages. Depends what you want really, if you want web then it has to be js or a superset language like typescript. For server side you have a good number of decent choices from C# to Rust depending on what you want. If you're a beginner then I recommend C# if you have no os requirements

@Wozza365 I am not a beginner, I already know a little of JS, do I just further my knowledge in it?

@diavel PHP is completely unreplaceable. It might not be the best lang, but it definently is very useful.
  • 1
@PrivateGER I've never had a need for PHP

@HRT-713 probably a good idea, look into some frameworks like angular or react as they seem to be really popular and consider learning typescript too.

    @Wozza365 Thanks a lot

@PrivateGER , its a very bad language to start web development with. Who said it isn't irreplaceable? There are way better frameworks and languages for web development.

If you want to learn something learn it. Don't plan and pick too hard over market demands and future prospects. Whatever you learn will help you become a better developer.

If you want to earn money, that's another story.
