lorentz1512266dAnd this is the better option, because Stalwart at least gives me a complete list of the records I need to set, even if that list doesn't transfer intuitively to the Linode interface. With Postfix I had to hunt down each of the security protocols individually and how to configure the server to use them, as if any of that crap was optional.

lorentz1512266dEmail is stuck in a pit because the difficulty of setting up a server means that it's only done by companies large enough to know each other by name and people who want to sell shit.

Wisecrack945459d@lorentz reminds me vaguely of the transition from http to default https everywhere, and it how it fucked over total beginners just learning new things and trying to locally host and test their websites or applications.

lorentz1512259d@Wisecrack There are 5 ports that you absolutely need to keep open on an e-mail server, and some 20-ish DNS records in various categories that need to be set.
Opening ports below 1024 is a single access level, and writing DNS records is another single access level. One of each would be enough if this was as sleek and utilitarian as HTTPS is.

Why does email suck so much oh my god, I don't want a fucking lesson in the kinds of domain records, I can set a TXT to prove that I control the DNS record, I have a TLS certificate, what the fuck else would I possibly need to prove!? None of this is contributing anything to security! Just fucking figure it out, it's the internet, not an international border, jesus.
