!rant

I know it's not that impressive in the dev world, but I'm finally making six figures (the lowest six figure value possible but STILL) and I can't really brag to my friends about dollar amounts so HURRAH. Accepted the offer yesterday, and I'm quite pleased about it.

Annoyed that it took so long (I'm 29), but I did have a two year long career break for a family medical issue/travel/quarter life crisis, so so it goes.

    @SSDD it's not like I can celebrate the milestone with my roommates. One is a grad student, the other basically an office coordinator/receptionist. Speaking numbers irl is uncouth, figured I'd celebrate in an environment where the "accomplishment" is rather blasé.

    @Christine I think it's great and a reflection of your value to your employer. Congrats!

    Perhaps your humility might put people off, though; I think you overestimate the average dev's salary (esp. worldwide).

    You definitely overestimate the average dev salary. Most developers will never earn a 6 figures salary...

    Congrats! Great time to be a dev! The US market for developers has an imbalance in supply/demand for experienced talent, we'll see what happens as this big influx of bootcamp junior devs build up a few more years under their collective belts and dilute the "senior" pool.

    It really depends on which part of the world it's in. In Denmark, it's "easy" to earn 6 figures salary, but converted to USD, it's only 5 and maybe really far away from 6 figures.

    @agaskins haha :) But looking at glass door, I'm not even making an average salary! Though I suppose SF wages might effect the national average (and I'm not in SF)
