Arghhhhhhhh! What the hell is becoming of today's world?

So I have registration form that relates to parents signing up for a service and asking for ages of their children. Children are never older than 5 years old.

So, for each child the user specified the child's sex/gender (Boy or girl) and their age.

I'm still in disbelief over my client's request, that is marked "urgent".

I basically need to add to the list of options, as "boy" and "girl" are no enough and the question is now "too limiting".

I apparently need to add several more options including: "prefer not to specify", "geneder neutral", "bigender" and "genderfluid".

I mean how can a child aged 5 or less identify as "gender neutral" or "bigender" - how on earth are they able to decide.

Fine, if you're an adult and signing up to something like Facebook, have your 80 odd options. But for children under 5 how have no idea wtf any of this means, stuff like this really annoys me.

    Or have it say:
    A) male
    B) female
    C) other (or provide a write-in box)

Just so you know aswell: We are all DOOMED!

It's not so much how to implement the request, as that's easy.

It frustrates because the task is a reflection of the last few years, political correctness etc .

I know even 2 years a request like the one here would be unheard of.

    @danzig666 True, unfortunately very True.

Just change from sex/gender to sex and girl and boy will cover all possibilities

@SgnfcntOverflow Unless it's for some service using language which doesn't differentiate between those, then use biological gender or something like that

@SgnfcntOverflow there should be an intersex option then. not out of political correction but because it should cover all options including edge cases. and intersex is a scientifically acknowledged edge case.

regarding the gender. I'm a supporter of having the "other" option. generally, it hurts no one to have it. in fact, sometimes I even use that option if I don't think it's necessary for a service to know my gender.

@ClemFrieckie that sounds ingredibly childish tbh. It's "pretending to be retarded" tier logic

This offends me as a vegan transgender atheist German engineer who vapes organic decaffeinated compressed soy breast milk with pumpkin spice on the regular and a person who does Indian naked crossfit yoga 5 times per week with juju on that beat as a background music. I'm also a male feminist and i identify myself as a pastafarian Apache helicopter dog who serves only to one master: my chihuahua which I helped cross the border of Mexico because I hate Donald Trump. My dog also walks me, if you find that weird you're an arrogant ignorant homophobic globaphobic sexist

@DeveloperACE thats such a nice option becaue I really want my gender to be ';Drop Table...

@ClemFrieckie it's not and nobody does that sans a very small minority.

    Genitalia:

    ... • Penis
    • Vagina
    • I paid too much money on a shitty surgery and now have none of those or a very crippled version of one

@filthyranter I actually agree with this.

You know how they have those stick figures on bathroom signs?

Yeah, replace those with dicks and vags - we're in business then. Fuck the words and look in your pants.

@droo It's not a service as such. It's a signup form for an event. Children get given gifts based upon their gender/age.
