This whole week I’ve been writing Java (for the first time) and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a horrible language, written by horrible people, for the purpose of making other people’s lives horrible.

Fuck Java 🙂

I hate it too. But, as much as php and Linux, suddenly disappearing with every device imbued in such profanities would render the world in chaos.

I hear Kotlin's pretty neat at fixing Java's shortcomings. Kinda' what Typescript is for JavaScript, but for Java instead (in a broad sense). If you're in need of some syntax sugar and whatnot I'd suggest trying it out.

@buried my boss knows a lot of Scala and talks it up quite a bit - might try them both out.

Also I’m not bashing Java just because I don’t know how to use it, I didn’t know C# and had no complaints when I had to use it for a couple months.

@brod what's the big difference between Java and c# ? The syntax is pretty much the same

@lukegv i always check peoples profiles when they hate on Java and 99% of the time they are js/python fans. The cool kids hate Java 😋

I feel the same way about java when I took it in uni. It’s probably because I started learning JavaScript first and every time I got stuck in some in Java the same thing always popped in my head “this is so easy to do in JavaScript” but I do that the languages for helping learn about object oriented programming. BUT THATS WHERE IT STOPS
