I've been hunting for a new job for several months because my current company isn't growing my skills any further. There have been many setbacks, a few rejections, and that awful lingering imposter syndrome. So I finally dug myself out of my self pity and began learning things that my current company doesn't implement – JS frameworks, UX practices, etc. Today I had an interview that felt more like a conversation and collaboration than getting grilled about terminology and bug fixes. No matter what the result, I've been inspired to learn again 😌

    what's imposter syndrome?

@Woosh It is when accomplished individuals cannot internalize their successes and are worried about being exposed as "frauds." Unfortunately plagues many devs, especially us self-taught ones 😕

Oh geeze. I consider a successful developer one that had the ability and capacity to problem solve. I had that same problem in college. It seemed like all the other developers around me "got it" while I barely scraped by on projects. #devlivesmatter

Don't ever stop learning new things! Even if you don't ever use it in a professional scenario, sometimes new stuff can just help give you a different perspective on things you already know and make you think in a different way.

Yeah, I've been on paternal leave for 12 weeks now, spent that time learning c# and angular2! I like learning new things, and dont plan on leaving my current job as of now, but having knowledge in new tech is always a good idea imo!

@yusijs I wouldn't leave a job that gave 12 weeks paternal leave either.

@Woosh Norway has 48 weeks off with full pay when you get kids. 10 weeks for dad, 10 for mum, and 28 to split. mrs took the 28, I took 10+some vacation in there, which adds up to 12 weeks for me ;-)
