    Gedit > Notepad

    I think this (notepad as text/plain xdg opener) happened by default in certain versions of Ubuntu when you installed WINE.

    Oh geez... I had no idea what a heinous crime I had committed. Never use it anymore, but yeah I installed it. I'll go clean that mess up now. Thanks for the FYI, guys.

    I know some. especially those who need to adjust first. Though they use notepad++ in wine instead

    Can anyone tell me why ppl do this.
    Surely there must be a reason.

    I use vim on windows 👌🏻
    Babun is great :)

    There are plenty of arrow key unimodal editors for Linux. No idea what reason anyone would have to do this.

    @SystemZ But is Gedit > Notepad++ || Gedit == Notepad++ ?
  • 0
    @thremedy That's something entirely different. In contrast to Notepad, Notepad++ has features.

    Btw. there is NotepadQQ which is being developed as a Linux alternative for Notepad++.

    @Navigatr I'd argue that Notepad++ is a bit more versatile than Gedit, because it has a lot more plugins (at least when comparing the default plugin sources).

    @lazyProgrammer Vim is not an alternative to Notepad. Vim is an alternative to Visual Studio.

    Seems legit...
    BECAUSE YOU CAN.

    If you don't agree, please start non-native kate or kwriter on Windows right now.
