This delete Facebook thing it, we devs have been telling people that Facebook can steal data.

I dont get how this is considered "News". Didn't EVERYBODY at least suspect that?

It's not like they are deleting WhatsApp or Instagram which are also owned by the same company but it's a start

@simulate Gonna tell you some discussion I had.

So was talking about another app that send data like your localization to an unknown service, though is, it's the money management for students, so no reason to do that. Was explaining that I saw some and worked with some tracking stuff too.

Then someone joined the conversation to say that "it's not because it happened one time that it happens all the time", and that I might be paranoid.

was tracking emails if you wonder, but that's all you'll get from me :p

@simulate Mostly to say that people aren't aware on how bad it is.

And I saw someone saying "your personal data, it's your nudes" to make people understand on how it is bad. I found that simple phrase efficient.

For the record, the data of Facebook users who *gave consent* and also of all their friends of whom some/many *did not give consent* was shared.

For the people who's data was shared without their own consent, it was completely out of their hands.

Then again, it was in their policy to not share this data to external parties. Ok, a policy won't do to protect 100%, as we know.. but it's no use to boycott an error like that, which has been fixed for years by now.

It's sad that such things could've happened, but they came with some damn rules, which were abused.

Why now, and not then? Because, using that alpha version of their API myself, I was already very aware this shit was possible. (Ok, the users might not've been, but the developer from this incident should've known) That's what I don't understand.

@illusion466 I agree mostly only in this case Facebook had an oppertunity to deny access to this company years ago and they let that slip.
