GhostDev8807yI am well trained in the education of the computer workings... I have 8 hours to my name of teaching two individuals over the phone how to install our application... In short:
Me:"click on start menu"
Person:"what is that"
Me:"the flag thingy at the bottom left of your screen"
Person:"okay, left click or right click"
Me: "erm... Left!"
Person:"one click or two clicks"
I was patient, and then they wanted me to stay on the phone while team viewer downloads and once that was done they wanted me to explain to them what I was doing, what click and how many clicks... It wasn't all bad, was a lovely old lady and a charming old gentleman.... Old lady even gave me tips on how to make "amazing" tomato jam... ๐ -
cb21910107y@GhostDev that last part made me literally "aww"๐
We share the same ability to stay calm most of the time๐
but it's sometimes hard to explain things without getting into too much detail. So i tried to teach her how to differentiate between interactive and non-interactive elements and how write. If it was one of my family members teaching they would probably freak out from the "incompetence", although it's not her fault since she has never used a computer before -
cb21910107y@Alice i believe it comes from their usage of the desktop and tge same behaviour in the file explorer๐

GhostDev8807y@cb219 at least you stay calm, very few people do, and it's kinda critical to the whole experience, but maybe don't go into too much technical detail... And use things she can understand... Like, don't disable the firewall mom, it's like the sugar lid that keep the ants out of the sugar, and you don't want ants in your sugar ๐ haha. But kudos for taking the time to teach her.

GhostDev8807y@Argentus no one can make jams like our grandmother's... I Miss my grandmother's fig jam so much.
Dear god, tried to explain to my mum how to use a computer. Wait for spring creators update...๐
Everything went ... decent: learn opening different windows, closing them again, explaining functionality, which areas/buttons/etc.. are interactive ... and then comes the browser with its tabs๐
the only program which can open multiple "instances" of itself ... in itself. How to explain that? (i know that's probably not correct but that's the only way i can explain it) Needless to say she hasn't figured out how to use broswer tabs and what they are there for.
An now "Sets" come to windows. Oh boy how to teach that...?๐ฅ
... I'll probably just never show her just to keep safe๐
