At first I didn't see the server, so I expected a joke about the cloud. Disappointing.

zacg30317y@iKameo not at all. This server is 460W, but I haven’t really been worrying about the cost of that since I’m not personally paying for electricity. 120W is just under my iMac’s average running wattage, so that should be fine I think

donuts238487yWhen I saw this it reminded me of one a wood sawing table.
Why it's the server so flat? -
donuts238487y@zacg yea i just didnt realize servers were that long and flat, thought they were like smaller.... maybe some have the hardware stacked so theyre taller vs flat?

jeeper59667y@billgates there’s U which measures the height. So 1U 2U 3U etc. it sort of references how many pegs it takes up in the rack.
Then there’s quarter half or full rack. This measures depth. Server racks are a set length. Most servers will be full rack, switches half or quarter depending on how big. There are half rack servers though. -
jeeper59667y@billgates the picture here is of a 1U full rack server. A 2U full rack server looks shorter but it’s an illusion caused by the proportions.
