The place where my brother works is a lot like this, except they don't even use their actual machine. Most of them have to use a VM that's been prefabricated.

This all sounds a bit restrictive for development. No VM's, constrained machine etc. So most devs have their own box (laptop + 3g or something) to play with, off the official network?

@h3ll I could get behind it if you were the NSA or something. But then I imagine they'd have a decent enough administration team to allow Linux machines on the network.

run it within a VM if you have install permissions. if not, just use USB live Linux to hack it and change yourself to the admin of the machine....
