I seriously have a large dislike for Windows 10... Switched from my Mint partition to my Win 10 and now it's been installing updates for the last 20 minutes...

    Left Windows a year ago :)

    This is why Anniversary Update is important, you can tell windows your inactive time and during that time it will install updates. You can control and defer upgrades.

    I do it just happened to install at the wrong time for some reason. I only switch to Windows for a few clients.

    @turturtles I hate it when that happens! sometimes I have to use Windows because wine won't work properly, and every single time, I end up sitting there for an hour and a half waiting for it to load, make it to 100%, restart, and start over again...

    With its smug face, taunting you with 'this will take a while'...

    @EpIcInCoGnItO
    Yeah tried to do that today, Windows informed me that I can have at max 12 active hours in a day... Why??

    @elidepa what's the issue in that? Keep the active hours as the time during work!! At home you won't get fired for being late with presentations.

    @EpIcInCoGnItO yeah but the problem isn't getting fired, the problem is that I want to be able to control my own pc, and setting arbitrary limits like that seriously limits my ability to use the computer as I want to use it. I'd understand if some limit had a real technical reason behind it, but setting the limit at 12 hours is just unnecessary

    @elidepa Bro chill. let me tag you onto something.

    @elidepa There is an option Windows Updates > Updates > Advanced option > use my signin for Windows to complete update.. I guess this is the best resolution for your problem.

    @elidepa it's probably for work/life balance or more likely the updates need 12 hours to install.

    @turturtles thanks for the tip, I'll try it next time I boot into windows. Tbh, it's not that big a problem for me, I use windows so little. I just ranted about it in my comments since I find it an unnecessary and pointless limitation and thus simply bad design.

    But hey, that's only my opinion, I'm glad you have found that option useful and working well :)
