But gmt-12 is 2018-04-20 02:00...

Here in gmt+1 the 20th starts one hour earlier than in gmt..

Time travel? Relativity? Rick? Illuminati?

Turns out that GMT offsets work in the “POSIX” style where the offsets are actually reversed..
So -1 actually means one hour ahead of gmt.. and the other way around, + is the offset in the past..

For whatever reason...

Because this format comes from the US where they wanted to be in a positive time zone *facepalm*

So they say gmt+8 means:
In plus 8 Hours from now, we will have the current gmt time.
