A quick update to a previous rant: https://devrant.com/rants/1336393/...
(If you haven’t read it yet, please do, because otherwise you won’t know what I’m talking about.)

So I got the laptop of my classmate working. I connected to my PC remotely because the laptop is way too slow. Everything was working perfectly and I was finally working on the app. But then it happened, I clicked on chrome and for some reason the laptop started to go crazy. The screen was all blocky/pixelated and I couldn’t do anything. I called someone from the ICT department at my school and he said he couldn’t fix it (probably because he didn’t know what to do or what was going on). So now the laptop is broken and I’m can start all over again. So I’m stuck, again. And my school doesn’t want to do anything about it. The worst thing is that my classmate needs to explain to his parents why his laptop broke. I hope I can get working again soon. I just don’t know what to do now.

You could try dual booting linux and see if the problem is software or hardware related

Boot linux and make sure to reset the bios to make sure it does not have want wacky settings. If it were hardware do you have any idea what component it would be.

It could be a hardware issue, if it is, potential suspects are the RAM or the motherboard.
Try running memtest on the laptop.

Pixelation in the screen would lead my way to the GPU. But you said you connected remotely it might be a connection problem.
Caused by a load the laptop was not able to handle.

So ... Not sure what app you develop or what is running on the laptop or what hardware specs it have.
But usually Medion devices are not known to be fast. Especially the hard drives ...

Checking the ram is always a good idea. Also make sure that the hhd is alright. Readings smart values as a first try. Maybe run a fschk, but be careful with that. Running the wrong options can also lead to dataloss.

Boot a Linux from USB and see how the laptop behaves would be my start. Check syslog/dmesg/kernel log ...

Thanks for the replies everyone. Unfortunately, I can't do anything with the laptop because I'm on Holliday right now and not at school. But I am going to try to make a prototype app at home. If I get back to school I will probably try your suggestions. I also may know why the laptop isn't working properly. My classmate told me he has opened the laptop before, so I think it's the GPU or motherboard. And the laptop is also pretty old. I hope the issue will be resolved soon so I can start working again.
