On my way to buy a second hand Oneplus One!

I don't think that not being able to remove Google services from my phone because this phone isn't supported by open source roms is a valid excuse anymore, especially since the new dutch surveillance law goes into plan the 1st of May.
I don't have that much money but I can afford this second hand device right now so let's do this.

Will install an open source rom without Google apps onto it!

    Going to try out Vyper OS, thanks @Condor for mentioning it during the Dutch devRant meetup!

    Do keep us updated on Vypher OS, sounds interesting.

    One thing I love right away is that with many devices, you've got to search for ways to root and unlock etc.

    There are fucking guides on their own fucking forum!

    The first one ... That I'm assuming using?

    I have trouble finding vyper/vypher OS, found viper OS and cypher OS instead 😁

    LineageOS also has device spesific instructions: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/...

    I'm still rocking a OnePlus One. What a phone! I wish they'd kept the whole easy custom ROM thing with their newer phones, but they are too mainstream now. So mainstream they put a stupid damn notch in the 6 :(

    @Condor Just flashed twrp, looking if it still boots now 😅

    @Condor Getting an error while flashing 😞

    Going to try out AEX :)

    Been thinking about getting a Nexus 5X. Then install Plasma Mobile on it. Do you you have any input on that?

    Isn’t the hardware backdoored by the Chinese government?
  • 2
    @DeveloperACE So what about US phones, backdoored by the US?
  • 0
    @linuxxx I’m not trying to say that they aren’t. I’m just wondering like are there better choices out there hardware wise for someone who is concerned about privacy and not being tracked
  • 2
    Lineageos and resurrection remix :)
  • 1
    @DeveloperACE Do you have any examples of under 100 euro?
  • 0
    @linuxxx i dont have any examples, I was asking if there any alternatives like some kind of “privacy phone” that doesn’t have hardware privacy violations built in

    @DeveloperACE Idk to be honest :/

    I have still my good old OPO. I remember how I fought 4weeks for an invite.

    I have to agree with @Wozza365, there are too mainstream now. Earlyer there were a insider tip but now there are what thy want to be: a kind of chinese Apple.
  • 0
    @SITCHEZ One could say that they are mainstream as they (BBK Electronics) are the second largest smartphone manufacturer. So like Apple but bigger.

    @DeveloperACE
    Maybe the fairphone? But i haven't investigate where the pieces come from.

    @linuxxx .
    Let us know how it runs pls. I'm curious about that myself.

    @hashedram Runs great! I've got DotOS installed on it without Google services and this fucker is fast!

    Can you costomize the notification light color, per notification? I liked that feature in Lineage OS.
  • 0
    @ODXT I honestly have no clue, never looked into it because that's not something I need/want. But as far as I'm aware, Lineage should run on the onplus?
  • 1
    @linuxxx
    Yeah, it does. I used to have it on my old OnePlus 3. Since I don't like my phone showing the world my messages, I keep the screen locked and off. Only way to see notifications is to unlock the phone.

    I only knew that I got something. Which is where those notification lights came in handy.
