Kirk2707yI don't know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I actually prefer GitLab, I think it's better than GitHub in some aspects.

Best entertainment ever: companies live blogging what issues they're going through
Gitlab is awesome -
devsdmf2137yOk, I like GitLab and in the past I used to deploy it internally to get some version control. But, lets stop to think a bit, how many times GitHub lost user data due to a employee fault? I meant, I like GitLab, but I trust more in GitHub.

I think I'm with @devsdmf in this one. I love how they handle this kind of stuff. Last year they even had a live broadcast on YouTube solving the problem and I watched it for a couple of hours maybe. But if you ask me and I base my response on some evidence (or at least recent common knowledge) I'd go wit GitHub.
But just that. It's not like I they have an issue a month. I'd be equally happy with GitLab but I guess I'm just used to GH. -
I'm a gitlabber. Quit github tests ago and still staying true to gitlab!
Awesome features and the level of transparency they show is unequalled imo. -
aritzh7527yI have noticed that GitLab is slightly slower when pushing, and has some downtime here and there. Still, the free version (because if you host it yourself, the previous issues are gone) has many more features than GitHub, and they are crystal clear when issues arise. GitLab all the way.

Yesterday Gitlab had severe issues.
Somehow their database replication had split and ALL of the traffic went over one server.
I absolutely love how transparent they were about this issue and that they shared what exactly they were doing.
