I code, watch Big Bang Theory, sip coffee, and code again. I never leave the doorsteps except for my classes. Some say my life is sad.

Is it? Anyone out there like this?

    Why going out and trouble with all the poeple if it makes so much fun to simply code at home all day long?

    Try and do some exercise and learn how to handle stress if you haven't already.

    I hit the gymn once a week for medical reasons, i.e after working under pressure for years routinely doing 16 hour days and feeling stressed I got high blood pressure and an enlarged heart as a result.

    Now I work 4.5 days a week, take two afternoons off to help my family and every weekend off to spend time with my wife. I'm also strict about my working day finishing at 6pm at the latest and if I miss a deadline, well that's just too bad. My clients will not pay for my funeral.

    TLDR, if you are happy then all is fine, look after your body though.

    Being outside is nice. Maybe not here in the fucking desert, but in general.

    But people?
    People are for other people.

    I feel you. Only going outside to go to work. I used to spend plenty of time outside with other people, but it doesn’t feel productive anymore. Always the same conversations and stories ...
    It’s more fun to be productive and work on sideprojects. But yeah, it’s not a healthy way to life imo.

    @ausername

    Thanks, man, I'm noticing an industry trend at the moment where clients expect developers to work like machines and work on side projects in their spare time in order to improve their skills. I'm all for self-improvement but I feel that this corporate push for side projects is so that big corps can hire top talent at knock down prices without having to spend money on training.

    For me as long as you are doing something productive, it doesn't matter how you do it.
