Doing some HR today... Polish surnames really are a case of "I dropped a Scrabble board and picked up mostly consonants"

Polish guy here. That is actually true in many cases. I live now in other country and people have no idea how to pronounce my surname. Also sometimes they write it down incorrectly, even when they see my documents and can slowly write letter by letter :/
Fortunately I don't have any polish speciffic letters in my name. That would be pain for everyone...

@unDone My name is a common (English) name with a different spelling... Nobody can spell it correctly without me correcting them. It's gotten to the point I've started going by a shorter version of my name because it's hard to fuck the spelling for that up.

@jhh2450 i know this feeling. Only 5/500 guessed that my lastnane is really my Lastname.

@stop haha actually you also misspelled. It should be Grażyna. With a dot, not a line.
I know it might look like not really that much difference, but in pronounciation it is.
Or maybe some characters encoding fucked up here ;)

@DLMousey meh, so many HR people are too afraid of such things.

Too sterile an environment makes people too quick to react, like allergies.

I imagine a lot of English words with their silent letters garners a similar reaction abroad.
