Just happened to stumble across an indian job offer. They want a fulltime php dev for 20k indian moneys a month. Thats not even $300. Are they... Are they serious or is this just a bad company? Because thats less then what i made with a part time frontend job when i was just a beginner. Is this a trend in india to underpay people by this much?

Traveling to India last year made me value what I have.

Cost of living is lower. Room rent is 120$pm and food is 80$ pm in India.

Indian here. 20k is a bit on the lower end, but isnt that bad. Our currency has lesser value than the dollar, so direct conversion doesn't make sense.

A carton of milk for example, costs about 5 cents here.

@heyheni all of those ingredients cost a lot here lmao

@Floydian dunno, living might be cheap, but i cant imagine that buying a tv for example is any cheaper than anywhere else

Just for the record, we rent a 2 room apt in the middle of the city for $350 a month, so it aint that expensive here either.

@Floydian No, swiss aka rich white priviliged european. But currently I'm without a job and beeing poor in one of the most expensive city in the world isn't fun either. Cooking Indian recipes and remembering the smells and colours of Mumbai, Goa, Jaipur and Varanasi helps me keeping me afloat and gives me joy in my dark hours at the end of the month. 😊

I think you need to pay them to work as a php developer. Please, stop using php.

@Floydian 20K these days is low given rising costs and taxes on every fucking thing the government thinks of. I'm Indian BTW.

@Floydian could live. But things would anyways be slightly tight. Anyway it depends on perception

I live in Portugal (western Europe). My rent is 200€/month and I make about 1000€/month. It's more than enough to live, so I'm saving a lot of money.
