GCHQ2787yAdvertisement? If people are able to see what devRant is like before they sign up it would attract more people because people might just ignore it if they have to sign up to see what it's like.
As for privacy, so long as you haven't posted anything that could identify you, it shouldn't be an issue. -
@GCHQ and you're right. It just happened that some friends went on my DevRant and read all my rants (I made the mistake to use my common nick here), and it bothered me.
I've cleaned some rants and changed my nick, that won't be an issue anymore, but the idea stayed.
And yeah you're right, didn't think of that! -
dfox428277y@anonlion this has been suggested before and my response remains the same. Making rants “private” is just a false sense of security for people since the app itself is public and anyone can sign up. All rants should be treated as anyone can see them, and I wouldn’t want people to think otherwise. Because we’ve also had suggestions for a “private” option for rants so only logged-in member can see them, but again, seems like that would be us giving people a false sense of privacy in that regard since anyone could still sign up and read all of their stuff. Or any logged in user could just copy the rants out.
I was wondering.... why are rants public?
Shouldn't be better for DevRant's feed to be visible only to logged members?
