if you only write HTML, you can say you're a coder, but you CANNOT say you're a programmer.

    I would go a little bit further, if you only write HTML you are a webdev in the making and at the moment you code HTML. I think a coder should know at least a couple of languages (programming languages) before being called a coder.

    @JKyll HTML is not a programming language but it IS code. that was the point I was trying to make.

    @mjones44 I heard HTML was tiring complete somewhere, or was it HTML + CSS?🤔
    Any way I get what you're saying.

    @JKyll it's HTML+CSS3 but it's sort of a cop-out imo

    also it's Turing complete

    It's pretty much semantics. The problem with knowing only HTML is that it's a useless skill on its own. You need CSS to make it presentable, and you need JS to make it do anything.

    @spritanium again that's beyond the point I was making.

    Just adding to the discussion 🤷

    What if I said I'm a "front-end developer" or "UX specialist"?

    If I write html css php swift and bash scripts, would you consider me a programer?😁

    @dovydasbere yes bc PHP, Swift and bash are programming languages
  • 1

    @mjones44 thanks 4 ur opinion 🙂

    @dovydasbere it's not even really an opinion. if you write actual programming languages, you're a programmer.
