I’ve not looked into GDPR much as our apps don’t collect any personal data so I Could be wrong

This violates the GDPR. If Tumblr wants to operate in Europe, every mailing list has to be explicitly opted into, not the other way.

Send them an email, because that is definitely not GDPR compliant.
