It's a bit late but what do these specs mean?

The f and the 16/20.

I thought I was getting 20mp but all the camera apps say maz is 16.

And for RAWS, dinner say 13, OpenCamera says 16.

@iKameo that's just the f? So exposure time is 1.6 seconds?

What about the others upto to um?

That 1.22 micron pixels represents the pixel size. Larger the pixel size, more light each pixel can collect. Usually between 1 and 2 for phones.

That 1/2.6", is the size of the sensor measured diagonally. (Not exactly this, you can read from the link mentioned below)

The f number is the ratio between the focal length and the size of the hole. Here f/1.7 means the focal length is 1.7 the size of aperture.

That 27mm is the focal length determining field of view and magnification.

You can read more here : https://techspot.com/guides/...

And actually the main sensor is the 16 MP one. The 20 MP one acts only as a depth sensor (for portrait modes). This is what they advertise at least.

    PS : I also have the Oneplus 6 😅

f/1.7 is the aperture (opening of the lens).

It's an inverse quadratic function. f/1.4 is 4 times more open than f/2.8. Open aperture = more light, more natural bokeh, harder to focus.

27mm is the focal length in full frame equivalent. Lower means wider angle. Higher means more zoom.

The other relationship is Aperture (1/1.7) * Real Focal Length = lens opening diameter in mm.

Real focal length is independent of the sensor it's bound to. So if 27mm full frame equivalent is the number presented, divide that by the sensor's crop factor and you get (crop factor is 4.7684 for 1/2.6"). So the actual focal length of the lens is 4.7684mm.

So the opening to the camera is 2.8mm. Wow? That's a lot. Maybe I miscalculated something. Maybe the specs are marketing bullshit (DSLR lenses have this problem a lot, like the Sigma Macro 105mm f/2.8, when you shoot from up close the actual aperture is more closed). But the formulas are legit.

Anyway, 1.22um is the pixel size. Bigger is better.

@kungfucat so is the camera on this good or not? Like compared to iPhone, n the other Android flagship? Guess I can now compare but wondering if you know already.

The main reason that bought was like 20MP!! wow that's like a real digital camera?

Then I opened the camera apps and the options were <= 16mp and I'm like "Wait.... What?"

    @billgates
    Shortcomings :
    1. Portrait mode is OK. The boundaries of the subject are not clearly marked and as a result the background blur is not PERFECT.(Sometimes your shirt boundaries may get blurred, not too much, but enough).

    2. Slow mo at 480 fps needs a good amount of lighting to shoot nice videos.

    3. Autofocus may take 4-5 seconds. E.g you bring an object in front of the camera out of nowhere, it takes some considerable amount of time to focus on that object.

But apart from the above, i would say i am extremely happy with its performance. Details captured are top notch.
In good lighting as well as its low light performances are absolutely awesome.

OIS and EIS are waaaaaayyyyyyy better than galaxy s9+.

In one of the videos of mkbhd, he compares the cameras of iphone X, galaxy s9+, oneplus 6 etc. And maaan, its hard to determine which one is which. And that says a lot about its performance I think.

And alwaya remember, more MP's don't mean a good camera.
Pixel 2 XL has a single lens 12.2 MP camera, and it is regarded as the best camera on mobile devices today. (It has some great camera software to back it up).

Here is Mkbhd's video of the blind test : https://m.youtube.com/watch/...

So overall, pretty satisfied with the camera performance of Op6. 😅

Oh, I didn't even recognize my OP6 specs.

Yeah the camera is good. Better than on my previous phone - Galaxy S7 Edge.

Focusing isn't bad at all. It's pretty much as expected. It's software that decides whether to refocus or not. From close up to far away it takes around 1.5-2 seconds to decide to refocus, and 0.5 seconds to actually focus.

Low light performance is OK. I don't expect much from smartphone cameras in this aspect, since they're all crap compared to what I'm used to. But if you don't try to make prints out of it, or look at a big screen, they look great.

As far as camera specs go, it's not the best specs for a single camera. But they push on saying that its software gathers info from both cameras to deliver the best image quality. I can't compare that as specs.

If I look at some photos taken by a 250€ ZTE phone, they also look notch in smartphone league. Cameras and software are just good today.

The most important aspect of the camera is that it's FAST.

@AndSoWeCode yeah I haven't tried editing the RAWs yet but seems the camera jpg is pretty good already but wasn't sure if it were up there with the big guys but seems it's pretty good.
