JFC people, if you can't understand why some people are losing their shit about MS acquiring GitHub, google "Embrace, Extend, Exterminate" and spend some time reading up about ALL the shady shit MS has done past.

And then come to the conclusion that nowadays Microsoft has no interest in that technique and that they now are into open-source. Also, they only want to expand their open-source portfolio and that they know that the big brands they buy, shouldn't be completely exterminated but rather integrated. (see LinkedIn, Visio, Mojang, Yammer, Swiftkey, Xamarin, AltspaceVR)

For example investing money in canonical, what has ultimately lead to linux not dying off as a quirky os, and instead had funding to actually hire people to work on it?

Or for example, releasing a barebone windows for extrenely low power computers and distributing them for free or a very low price in africa for the poor schools?

@FilipeRamalho Just look what happened when they bought Mojang and Minecraft. It's a shitshow.

@PrivateGER They now have an education version and are still making money even though Minecraft is hyped anymore.

@PrivateGER There was no mod support before the acquisition and Notch also wanted to monetize the "shit out of it" or else he wouldn't have sold it.
