Y do all my links have to be in inside <nav>?

I'm afraid to ask where in the world you heard that

not all your links need to be in <nav>. it's just semantics.

<nav> declares a section used for navigation, such as a menu or pagination.

but links can be anywhere - in content, banners, tooltips, etc.

for each component you create you must think of it's semantic value and choose the proper tag that it belongs to.

just saying 'every link needs to be in <nav>' is not understanding semantics.
