OK, so, did my first 5 hour pre-interview coding test. it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. now I can't decide whether to be chuffed at myself for not finding the test all that terrible, or beset with anxiety that it was too easy because I misunderstood and just handed in pure crap and I'll never hear from them again.

Not all code tests suck, I think. Only the ones with weird rules, such as tight deadlines, delivering the solution on a private repo (why? you're gonna use it afterwards?) or tests that have little real-world application.

In my last job the test was to do a simple shopping cart... Basically a grid with edit/delete/update and a grid with the products... Still, it took on average 6 hours to complete... Sometimes we had to ask then to stop because we were already leaving, ha

yeah, 5 hours, 20 questions, the weirdest part was that it was pencil and paper.

I really genuinely want to work here. it's the oldest company in the city that hires non .NET devs.
