It is so frustrating to be searching for a problem, find a possible answer on Stack Overflow, and click on it to find out that the only answer was some douche bag explaining to the poster how their question is irrelevant or explain how much more they know. Either answer the question or help them politely.

Case In Point:
Q:
"Is there a ____ library that does _____?

A:
"Why would you want to do that? There are far better ways."

Either provide the "ways" or shut up.

It's funny how everyone rants about stackoverflow but I never had problems with it. Every question I asked got answered or alternatives were presented. And every question I searched for either had an answer or not, but never was there some asshole bitching about the question. Maybe it's just a problem with certain subcommunities on SO?

I'm not trying to be anyone here. I'm not active on SO, but my experience with it is quite mixed.

I'm often just trying a differently worded search; find SO again and a real answer. I think that sometimes the way people present their thoughts is the culprit. Not that being uninformative helps anything, just that some people trying to help gets annoyed when you should just have though more about it yourself.

EDIT: an ø sneaked in, I'm on mobile 😅
