Kinda rant...
Attempted making some Indianized teriyaki tofu.
Looked amazing. The sauce turned out amaaazing.
Served some.
Ugh... This tofu tastes wierd.
Disappointment 😫!!!
Threw the tofu.

Added noodles to the sauce 😍
Perfect.

    @relentlesscoder i.LOVE.CHAAP. 😍
    LOVEEEE IT.
But i think tofu goes better with east Asian flavours. Chaap is more about tandoori and it's typical masala 😍

I wish my city sold tofu. You Delhiites and your fancy supermarkets

@hashedram I ordered it online tho. But yeah one can find it offline too in here.

As a vegan, I love tofu! Brilliant meat substitute but Seitan is way better.

@relentlesscoder kind of dahi vada in mumbai, I'll pass

    @ceee tofu in India?
P.s- you rant a lot πŸ˜… but I enjoy them. Keep ranting.

@Braed I guess seitan is what we call
    "Soya chaap" in hindi.
    Yummy!

@relentlesscoder never heard when I was in Delhi. But chhole bhature was lit. I'll try next time.
  • 1
@ceee it looks similar. Seitan looks a lot like meat as its fiberous. I've had Seitan "KFC", "chicken" strips, and many burgers!
  • 2
@drekhi12 yeah it's not that hard to find.
Haha I don't use any other social media a lot,or rather don't have any reason to. This kinda fills the void.
I am just a a bigginer so I don't have much tech things to rant about that already haven't been ranted about πŸ˜‚ so its usually random stuff, with the hope that it doesn't annoy people.

@Braed chap is also kinda fibrous. I've heard people say it mimics chicken slightly.
I'd love to try seitan if its different. But I don't think it's available here.
Vegetarian indian food is already kinda vegan. Not many dishes use animal milk products. So there isn't much focus on selling or making vegan meats. Chaap is an exception which is sold every where not because it's vegan, but because people like it's taste.
  • 1
@ceee wow that's very interesting. The Eastern World eats a lot less animal products.
  • 1
@Braed can't say the whole east.
But a lot perecnt of Indians are vegetarian. And cattle slaughter, esp cow is ban in almost all of the country due to religious beliefs.

Wow never thought about using devrant for food advices. But now I see the potential

Tofu is nice. But quite easy to fail. Usually it turns out bland and boring. I prefer to make sure there is as much surface as possible, i.e. thin rectangular slices. And then marinating it for a couple of hours before cooking πŸ‘

    Thin rectangular slices βœ”οΈ
I didn't marinate tho, shallow fried it.
But it tasted off. There was something wrong with it.
