FUCKING CHINESE SUPOSED IP CAMERAS...
First, they aren't Ip cameras, they are p2p cameras with different settings and more limited...
then took me 3 days to open 5 ports for 2 cameras, config the cameras, till they work.
YEY they finally work, can see them over the Internet (no default settings, even changed the Alias), have my Ip camera viewer on the Phone... but one doesn't activate on moviment.. in this 3 days only took 2 pictures with motion detection on and people passing in front of them... the other was working for like 5 minutes... giving black and white 7kb jpgs... after a few teeks... can't make it work again.
Now I have two cameras that I can see if my house is being robbed but no motion detection to warm me, or at least save some pictures on the server to serve as evidence (and maby finally get the team that is robbing one house a day, If they try to rob my house again...).
The cameras are very good as baby monitors or to play around, for 14$ and 20$... (love the 360º ball) , but as security cameras... Unless you have them connected to a security station and with a repeater close by... worthless...
Oh, and they may give me 1 good frame a second or lag to 10+seconds a frame...

Get a pi and chuck motion on it... Probably better?

Also, if you want a cheap camera built for motion detection and don't mind horsing around with OpenCV, get a Kinect for XBox360 and hook it up to a Pi.

Well... I spent 30 euros for 3 cameras... You mean get a pi for 45 euros plus 120 for a kinetic camera? Sorry for that price I can get a lot better...
I've already got a pack of 4 (real ip, not p2p) cameras for 200 euros, plus 60 for power line for the lag and range. Waiting because my fav store does random discounts every week, saw them half the price before, just need to check it every week

If you mean cameras made by swann, you are very wrong about them being better...

@dufferz don't know the brand but this store does not sell white label...
I love them because they do this type of campaigns to go trough stock and anything they don't sell, the item gets a discount till it reaches the price they payed.
So, always new stuff at the right price, while most stores sell like two years old computers expensive. Got very good prices there

Anyhow the cheap ones was to test and learn. Now I know exactly what I can do and what I want to do, I do that lots of times and save lots of money by not buying stuff I won't use...
Learned that from my father, he buys tools he likes, buy the good stuff and then forget he even got them... So almost all the tools I'm using are his, most brand new, and he got really cranky when he found out... Just said, why are you mad if you bought that or that for years and never use it? When you want ill buy you a new one...
Ofcouse he hasn't asked for anything yet and I have like 200 euros off pro tools to use..
Except his soldering iron that I can't use :p
Btw my dad is a DIY guy and my bro is a robotics engenheir... I run my project ideas trough him, but he doesn't tell me what to do, only mistakes so I can learn my way
