So a friend approached me about joining an internship. Said you'll learn php, js , jquery and bootstrap. I'm like okay I'm already learning this stuff, cool but is there a stipend or something? She says no but I'll have to pay 5000₹ (72$).

I said "ni🅱🅱a if you're paying, that's not sex that's prostitution" and noped the fuck outta there.

Its just sad how many students with no skills are actually paying to get an internship nowadays.

It's interesting that there are "students with no skills" in the first place. Is the education system failing them so they are being asked to pay again to actually obtain some useful skills?

On second thought i'd spend that money on that fancy new ssd I've been stalking for some time

I'm glad u asked that. My class has 60 students and I know only 3 of them who are genuinely interested in learning stuff. Most are not really sure what are they doing here
Or how to exit vim. So u get the picture, this isn't localised though i hope @platypus

@platypus that, and interestingly enough, the opposite problem too. In some cases there are so many applicants for each job that they can afford to lower the salary to inhuman levels and they'd still get people who want to join because everyone's desperate for a job.

You act rather entitled for someone who is entry level. Where are you going to learn the practical experience you need for later jobs? You can only learn so much from school - be thankful for the opportunities you’re offered.

I act entitled to save money, some students can't really afford to grab all the stuff thrown at them. @spooky

Also if I get an internship someday, I'd like it to be because of my hard work and knowledge, not because I fkin paid to get in front of the line.

@RememberMe the hoposite happens in Portugal, companies who place interns regularly get benefits and there are programs where the gov pays the company to place interns.
Ofcourse this system got abused for a long wile (with companies keeping the money and not pay shit).
Still I got lucky, joined my company in the midle of my course (my brother mounted a robot for one part of the factory, my father always worked in the molding industry and is highly respected, that's why when the boss found out I was doing a cnc molding course he hired me at half, againt my father wishes because he's the boss of the sales department).
Because I was in the midle I couldn't do a internship and it's iligal to hire for free, but one of the new programs payed 75% of my paycheck, no taxes and I got my own (veryyyyy big) machine in 3 months.
If the company had to pay my wages without experience I would have to wait another year, so... Lucky for that, unlucky for the burn out...

Btw I'm on sick leave and the boss is already pressuring my father because no one else can handle my machine 10 hours a day, 6 days a week... And I did it for two years with a burn out... My father is so proud that when I almost died in a car accident (felt assleap again, got saved by the guy behind me who horned like crazy, woke up with a electric pole in front of me) he was concerned on how it would look like... And when I finally sent a letter to the bosses because they didn't even know I was sick for almost three years my pa almost trowed me out of the house.
And I say fuck them all, tryed to work Wile on heavy medication in shifts and got fucked again for no reason, slept 4 or 5 hours in 3 days, got to the hospital in very bad shape, now I'm on sick leave for 3 months.
    Sorry, ended up venting out.
