Two guys are trying to fix and engine. There's one small part that needs fixing, but there's twenty different ways to fix it. The guys naturally disagree. How do they decide?
They play Rock Paper Scissors. One guy loses. Best out of three? Best out of five? 7? 9? It goes on.
Eventually they realise that they wasted so much time playing Rock Paper Scissors that the job didn't get done.
That's how you explain that this is a horrible idea. -
Knossos5278yIf bringing their expert and 2 others for a day would solve everything, they could have done it all themselves! It might be they can shave off a couple of days for learning the code base, I suppose.
-
SCollins1388y@Knossos it might help learning but if they start asking questions or arguing about how I do something or think I am being too slow it's just going to turn into chaos.
-
ultrono23508yLet them bring in their expert, waste a day and charge them. If their expert really was an expert they wouldn't need you to "help out".
Hate bs like this. -
SCollins1388y@rallport they originally wanted three dev's but would not pay for them because they where 'helping us'
We gave one of our more 'difficult' clients a quote of 30days to rewrite alot of there application. Two hours later we are in a conference call and they have a 'great idea' they will come in for a whole day and share knowledge to speed it up.
For some reason the project manager has decided that it's a good idea for me to be alone in a meeting room all day with 2 people coming in and an 'expert' Skyped in to watch me programming and 'help out'. With all of there knowledge they think it will only take a day...
It's going to be a long Tuesday...
