fuckwit12186yThis error usually shows up because you try to flash over existing data. One solution would be to format the data partition. But beware that EVERYTHING on there that you did not save outside your phone will get permanently deleted.

@fuckwit I'm trying to install an android update downloaded within the OS itself, formatting the data partition would mean that the update has nothing to install onto right? Or is the update a full OS? Sorry, I know very little about androids inner workings

fuckwit12186y@Darkovernerd ah that is a classic error then. Had this with my OnePlus one once. The answer for me was to download the full new Rom version and dirty flash it over the existing. While not the best solution it gets the job done. Twrp here is complaining that this zip is not a full Rom and therefore can't flash it like that.

fuckwit12186y@Darkovernerd but for Nexus devices there usually is a rather huge community on xda that has detailed guides written out for nearly all things

@fuckwit awesome, I'm slightly intimidated by those forums as I'm a .net/php developer and know nothing about java and Android but I'll have a poke around there
