grayfox35936yIt's terrible. I've been there and it is really hard.
When I'm in that situation, I try to find time to dedicate to my own projects to balance my will to keep in this industry. I mean, working on shit I'm not interested makes me think of switching but I really love software development and programming, so I start working on my own projects to remember myself what I love about this and keep doing it.
It's not a solution but more like a patch until I finish the mentioned boring project... If it extends you might like to talk to your boss about switching project/team or ultimately switching job. -
When I'm working on something I hate I take the time to explore new tooling I've been meaning to look at that might speed things up. Perfect time to step back...as I'm looking for reasons to do something else.

I am looking for a job in Toronto, it's literally all about banks, I get bored half way through the job descriptions.

catadoxa4166yI have been in that situation for ~7 months at my job developing features for a stupid CMS used by our marketing department. I just try to find the most interesting projects each sprint and enjoy coding for the sake of coding and its not too bad. Plus its a very relaxed workplace and my boss and coworkers are great, which is really the only reason I'm still there.
Also: personal side projects to keep my skills up with more interesting things. -
Sadly we don’t work in sprints as although I’m a “developer” by name there is very rarely any sort of development work to do.
Got a slap on the wrists today about my time keeping and the fact that I’ve been on my phone so much over the last couple of weeks or so.
Unfortunately I’ve run out of any fucks to give at the moment.
How do you deal with working on something that you have absolutely no interest in?
I’m working on financial software, at the moment stuff hay handles invoices etc, and even talking about for more than 2 minutes has be yawning and struggling to keep my eyes open.
