5ft time the charm. Had to change close to 10 options on the boot to run the os from the USB drive, but I got them all...
Seams like the builder didn't want normal users to install anything else then windows.

Trisquel is based on Ubuntu thou, but you could always install the linux-libre kernel :)

@Linux Debian is very good as a server os. I use CentOS because I like RedHat's integration with Java and Oracle.

Manjaro i3 is my daily driver but I would either go pure Debian or Fedora if I were to leave that ecosystem.

CentOS is great! 7 years support is awesome

@Linux Support is solid but my biggest gripe is how old many of the packages are. I don't do any real programming with php but I would go to Debian just to get support for php 7. CentOS is stuck on php 5 for god knows how long.

Try out Fedora while you're at it, it's my choice of distro. Similar to Ubuntu/Mint

Hey, the simplest way is using lili (linux live usb creator? Sth like that) on windows.

@GyroGearloose honestly just install as normal, and then make a super grub2 rescue disk. It's a good thing to keep around anyways. Welcome to Linux, shit breaks, good luck!
