iRobot13678y@pixeltherapy actually I feel the same way ! regradless of any region dev ..it's jus the person that makes it horrible
-
As an Indian dev, I would request you not to generalize. It is very easy to find bad developers anywhere.
-
@pixeltherapy @Vikram haha lol, the worse part is that I'm not outsourcing, is just the devs that work in there and my boss told me to catch up with them to learn what they do and help them, but... I don't know how to help them if they can't even help me :/
-
@devbugger yes I know, I'm sorry it wasn't my intention, it was just the heat of the moment and the rage of finding out all of this :(
-
keep in mind they are paid a small fraction of what you are paid. I used to work for 1$ per hour when I started out.
-
azzuwan1818yI"m not indian but I know some excellent indian devs saying the same thing about indian devs. In india the universities are factories producing millions of clueless zombie, "yes sar" "yes sar" programmers. They will say yes to everything and just shove in codes from every places they can find without even caring to understand how it works.
-
iybl1918yDon't generalize as Indian..... I'm so
But sadly kinda it's painful.... most of the ppl in CSE hate coding.. don't know why !
Most of My CSE friends are dumb as fuck, the can't even differentiate between .= and ==
Whatever others are incredibly smart coders & of course with the ability to make stupid things sometimes, But if you count those are really minor in number -
Overall I'm not a fan of generalization, but I get the frustration that can make you do this.
The difference is that, because of the difference in wage, it's possible to set lower standards that allow everyone to work in a certain job.
Compare this to most European countries and you get a lot less people that are offered the job, because you get fired for not being worth the money if you are not good enough.
Cost effectiveness is the key:
10 times less effective but 20 times cheaper is still profit in the eyes of outsourcing companies. -
yarwest26658yHe already apologized for the generalization, no need to keep bringing it up.
Move on people. -
rogie5001868ya lot of copy/paste.... we have some good ones but the bad out weigh the good. it's frustrating as hell.
-
azzuwan1818y@mclovinit it's happening everywhere not just in india. India just happen to take the cake because the sheer number of people there. The number of good competent devs in india can easily surpass the number of competent devs in many other countries including many European countries. But the even larger number of the incompetent programmers can undeniably create a dent globally and harm both skilled and dedicated indian and non indian programmers working with them. I have no doubt the situation will be improved as long as we have people like you who are able to point out the problems and able to honestly and critically analyze them. The bigger issues for me is the education system and policies that produces these zombies. Good devs are never going to be affected by the stereotypes and stigma because in our industry it is easy to prove ourselves by showing some actual work.
-
@mclovinit I have worked with developers across the globe but what I have seen is that there are two types of developers. Those who do it for fun and love it and then those who do it to earn a livelihood. The ones in latter category do not generally do well, no matter where they come from. The former category of developers on the other hand can be spotted from a mile away because of the poetic code they write. In India, due to various reasons, you will find that those looking to earn money make up a significant proportion.
-
@Vikram yep, outsourcing anywhere is rarely high quality, unless you have a strong relationship with the guys doing the work.
-
rkzo6518yDude, I'm from India and settled outside. I had problems to find a job when I migrated just because of my heritage and the perception built up by bad developers from my country.
But generalizing a whole bunch of us based on race or region is plain dumb and offensive in this time of PC.
There are brilliant ones whom you won't ever see or can be afforded but your employer.
It's a case of you get what you pay for.
If you judge a whole country based on actions of few people, believe me software would be the last domain which would be thrown around in the mud slinging. -
iybl1918y@rkzo
I'm gonna share one of my pathetic of mine ...... I've started coding in 2003 I was in class three that time ....
In 2006 our school included 'computer' as a subject ... I couldn't attend school for 1st two months because of an accident ...... the day I came to school in 2006 (1st attended day of my class six) I've seen all my classmates are scared - why ? The computer class is in that day - till then nothing was clear
At class I've realized the fact : computer class means the fucker (I mean teacher) will write all the code (gw-basic) in blackboard to copy into copy.. next day students have to run that practically without copy.. he never thought why & what students are doing ?? One day he announced storing wired words in sequences perfectly is the key to success as career in computer -
ftheseguys07yWell first off try using a the "reformat code" feature of your ide/editor. That will take care of those visual text issues. Secondly, yes, don't trust indians for development work. I've worked on my projects outsourced to indians and they all sucked beyond ass.
-
xxivdotnet02yi agree, most of them are lazy in coding, want to pass work on performing Devs, dont know what the hell they get hire on our team, maybe politics. Then yeah, WTF
-
QGeeM0245dI never saw so much shit in engineering projects before I started to work with Indian engineers.
They just throw shit on the wall and hope something sticks.
And the salary difference is not a valid excuse. I worked in big companies in the West with Indian engineers earning the same as anyone else in the West.
Same shit!!! The only thing that they are working hard on is the coding interview. They memorize any algorithms and say yes to everything - that they can do anything! Once hired you will keep spending more time reviewing and commenting their shitty code than actually working on your own tasks.
Same with Indian engineering managers. No management skills, no organizational skills, no planning skills, no soft skills at all. Just walking around the cubicles and yelling at everyone to to get the project done as fast as possible.
I know that there are also good Indian engineers but the odds to be lucky enough to get one is 1 to 30.
fuck you fucking Indian programmers, how it is possible that you are so fucking messy to code?, why can't you have some decency and write some readable code!, for fucks sake!
What really grind my gears, is that 90% of the project is built with dynamic Javascript, WTF????
Every component for every page is done in javascript while loading, seriously?, there wasn't a better way to do it? -.-
And SQL... oh dear fucking GOD!, I mean, how am I supposed to understand your code if you can't even use some alignment with TABS or spaces.
Better go to my lunch break so I can rethink my work to do tonight :(
