My PM: I don't like when you get up and help out other colleagues with their problems on their computer. You're not at their service.
Me: okay, I'll refrain from doing so.

The next day, I arrive 5 minutes before 8, I get myself a coffee, talk with a few colleagues, and:
PM: Hey, can you please come and help me review this email?
Me: ** fuck it, I still have 2 minutes ** Yeah I'm coming
PM: Now please.
Me: ...

Also my PM, 5 minutes later: Hey I don't manage to print my document, can you help me?
Me: ...

10 minutes later, I get a call:
PM: did you call XY about ZX?
Me: Yep, sent you a mail about it 2 minutes ago
PM: Really? I don't see it
Me: I sent it.
PM: Can you send it again?
Me: ...

Later that day:
PM: Hey, what are you up to?
Me: Well, I'm working on our improved websi-
PM: Can you please create a new campaign on Mailchimp? We're all under water here and a bit of cooperation from you would be great
Me: ** huh? ** erm, ok?
PM: Do it now
Me: Yeah yeah, don't worry. ** click ** here, done. Now, where was I...

----- PM on holidays

Other colleague from another department: Hey Phlisg! I have a small problem on our platform, can you help me?
Me: ** writes a script to help her out **
Her: awesome, thank you!!
Her own PM, 5 minutes later: Hey! Thank you very much for your help, it helps us out a real lot, very much appreciated :)

I lost my smile at work since the beginning of the year, but that little help I gave my colleague just gave my smile back to me :D

Being nice even when people say it's wrong is the best feeling ever

    @devTea indeed!

What pisses me off though, is that she "forbids" me from helping the others but she sollicitates me every 2 seconds, interrupting my workflow for some random shit. Also, I never get any thanks, it's always "hey I have a problem..."

So yeah, it felt nice to be thanked for doing something useful :) but then my other colleague is more open to computers than anybody else in the company - others see me as a "plumber" :D - so she gets a better understanding of what I do

Being very agreeable is not a trait to have at your workplace. Try saying no to some things
  • 5
@ausername unfortunately for me, I was very agreeable in the beginning when I started working, and my pm still keeps that image of me in her mind

So recently I managed to say always "no", but now she adds the "responsibility" factor in to "force" me to do stuff she wants to be done >_<

    I got pissed reading this
  • 3
Well, worst thing is colleagues know not to bother me anymore with useless stuff

but my PM, GOSH, there's a fly in her home she's gonna call me about it so I can do something

Time to change jobs :D I hate being the digital janitor here

Don't be afraid to tell her you don't appreciate her attitude.

My colleagues and I need to tell her, she does that as well with my two other coworkers, and they're pissed. I guess we don't say anything because of job pressure, but it's ruining our health in the long run.

    @Phlisg

Is she important or something? Like, is she related to the president? If not, then go right over her head. File a report with HR, or talk to her boss, because she's not only maintaining a hostile work environment, but she's actively reducing your productivity.

The irony of your PM not allowing you to assist others - but still hoards your assistance to herself. :/

The pm is toxic. Get rid!

@Phlisg "the digital janitor..." I like that metaphor
  • 1
@bahua yeah, you're right. Unfortunately no HR department but will drop a word to the director

@fredisinbed exactly! The irony :) once she said "we should stop interrupting Phlisg every now and then", never saw that happening

@teadrinker looking for vacancies as frontend :D but all require 5+ years with React

@dalastTomCruise hahahahaha well it's litteraly that :) "can you fix this?", "Hey this doesn't work", "I need this for [no reason]", "can you send a ticket?", "Can you send the newsletter?"

So beware folks, "webmaster" isn't something fun to do. I feel like I am 50+ years old for doing this shit

PM: "Hey, could you help me with ..."
Me: "I thought I wasn't supposed to get up and help coworkers all the time?"
