Is it okay to learn Perl and Ruby?
As I'm a networking guy and i want to write exploits of my own.
I have already been learning Perl and writing scripts.
I just want to know is it worth it in this era to learn these languages?

    No it is not OK. Learning is for the upper classes only. You do not have permission to learn, get back to work.

    Ruby is my favorite scripting language by far, go for it.

    Why not Python? It's great for networking

    You will always be able to hack something meaningful together with Perl. I think python will have a lot more staying power than ruby. Perhaps Go? But it’s your time, use it how you want it. There’s still jobs for COBOL devs

    @AforAutism I am learning python along with Perl but my main focus these days is on perl
