Question for everyone that has a job:

Does your workplace have a dress code? If so, what's required?

I work in retail so yes we do but my manager doesn't care what pants or shoes I wear as long as I have my work shirt ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@lxmcf My main concern is having to wear like nice dress pants and a long sleeve shirt (and tie) everyday.

Seems unlikely, but that's some shit I'd have to deal with, knowing my luck.

I don't mind requiring pants. I'd prefer shorts during the summer because our summers are unbearable at times, but as long as I can wear a short sleeves shirt, I'll be happy.

Edit: I don't mind dressing nicely during winter, since it's cold as balls anyways.

No dress code , worked with few companies so far.
Personally I like to wear formals daily.

We need a collared shirt. It can have Hawaiian prints on it, but it must have a collar.
And closed toe shoes.

It's never actually enforced though, I used to bike to work (think: *short* biking shorts and a t-shirt!) and one time I forgot my change of clothes and though my boss teased me, and I got called "shorts" for a while, but nobody really cared ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Noup, the only requirement is that you don't go naked

I love some Hawaiian shirts.

I also love to wear long sleeve button up shirts, but roll the sleeves up during the summer.

I also don't own any open toe shoes.

@Stuxnet if you have to wear dress pants, I really recommend getting chino pants, I wear jeans all year round and hate dress pants, they are a nice middle...

As for dress shoes and shirt and tie I can't say much because I love dressing up like that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ties during the summer is something I can't do. I feel like I'm suffocating with the humidity and the tightness at my neck.

@Stuxnet well I go do a few formal parties in summer and in Australia it will average 40 Celcius so I'm sort of use to it, you just would have to get a silk feel tie, noticed that they feel much nicer than a rougher material one.

But I don't really know of many workplaces that would require a tie

No dress code enforced.. I've got dress code guide along with contract, but nobody bothers. I asked the boss about it and he started laughing, wear whatever you want, dress code applies to meetings with customers only and is not that strict.. just don't go to meetings in sweat pants and you're good! xD So yeah, if I remember we have customers in house, I try to dress nicer, but usually forget, so I try to make myself invisible when walking past the conference room that has a glass wall. xD Also clients who visit us, usually merge business with pleasure so they are mostly not wearing suits either.

As I work in consulting company, in theory we should follow dress code, although it depends on the office. In my main one, where all technology guys are no dresscode is enforced, but in another one where business is it is strictly restricted.

I work at a pretty big tech company, there is no dress code and its fantastic

My dev colleague had some Wacken shirt today, and I had a Nargaroth shirt with "German Hateful and Misanthropic Metal".

Unspoken code would be to be dressed at all ... but no, afaik I can go to work in lingerie and a kilt.
