Today's Project: 400W power supply.
2x12V, 2x5V, 1x3.3V

    I have a 250 W from my old PC, was thinking to use it for powering electronics and stuff, as a bench power supply!

    @N0-Flux-Given give it a try, it's very easy.
    To jump start it place a clip to short out the green and any black wire in the main plug.
    Red is for 5v, yellow for 12v, orange for 3.3v and there is also negative voltage if you need that.
    I already have one 100w and now 400w. And they work perfectly.
    Also have a tool I made out of a hdd that must be powered by a power suply...

    I'll make some cool 12V led strips powered by that PSU and controlled by aurdino.

    Well, don't follow that Instructions lol That's for Pros.
    What you need is the picture to see what are the components (to learn), The picture with the wires and their voltages and do it yourself.
    -I only used the main plug.
    -Left the rest of the wires cut but unstripped.
    -Left room for extras (USB plug , 9V exit for example)
    -You need to short (connect) the Green and one black (Or place a button in the middle), 1 Red + 1 Black for 5V, 1 Yellow and 1 Black for 12v, one Orange and 1 Black for 3.3V
    - Pick the terminals you want, I salvaged these ones from another board I picked in the scrapyard.
    -Buy USB terminals from Aliexpress and you can even charge your phone.
    -Don't forget to test all the terminals in the end with a multimeter or LEDs before testing anything.

    @N0-Flux-Given Do you want me to make a tutorial for complete noobs? Something even easier that what (at least I found) online? I don't mind because I'll just post it latter.

    @GyroGearloose yeah I guess so. You could take the classix ATX design as example where you have an entry on the bottom of the front and an exit on the top of the back. That used to work even without fans because of air convection.

    @Fast-Nop Well, gonna check first if it heats up. It's just wires in the wooden box so it shouldn't heat much.

    I'm using a computer Power Supply.
    400W
    Used the main plug to get my wires and saved the rest to run DIY tools from HDDs, CD-Roms and such...
    Later I'll add USB ports too.
    My first one only has 100W (better for saving power), Two USB ports as 5V and 4 nails (two pairs) for 12V
