i saw a commit where someone wrote "it's 2am" and another which was someyhing like "agshfjahfhfjdjg"

I have many repos that are unlikely to ever be accessed by anyone but me. If you could see the commit messages...

As a maintainer of a number of our internal repos, I told everyone that as a part of the review process may or may not be review of the commit messages as well. We now have a styleguide for our commit messages (just like code style) and everyone who does not fulfil them is asked to change it...

There's nothing more satisfying than going through a clean git history with well formatted commit docs.
